Canadian immigration document checklists
Start gathering the right documents before your consultation. These are general checklists; after you retain Star Immigration, you receive a checklist built for your own case, with notes on what each document must show.
Visitor visa (TRV) document checklist
- Valid passport and previous passports
- Purpose of visit: invitation, wedding card or itinerary
- Bank statements for six months
- Employment letter, business registration or pension proof
- Property documents and family ties
- Host's status proof and invitation letter
Super Visa document checklist
- Parent's or grandparent's passport
- Proof of relationship (birth certificates)
- Host's PR card or citizenship proof
- Signed invitation letter of financial support
- Host's notice of assessment, T4 and employment letter
- Medical insurance: $100,000+, one year
- Immigration medical exam confirmation
Study permit document checklist
- Letter of acceptance from a DLI
- Provincial attestation letter (PAL)
- Passport and academic transcripts
- IELTS or other language results
- GIC certificate and tuition receipt
- Sponsor's bank statements and ITRs
- Study plan (statement of purpose)
Work permit document checklist
- Positive LMIA or employer's offer number (if exempt)
- Signed job offer and contract
- Proof of qualifications and experience
- Language results if the job requires them
- Passport and current status documents
- Spouse's documents for a spousal open work permit
Spousal sponsorship document checklist
- Marriage certificate or common-law evidence
- Sponsor's citizenship or PR proof
- Both partners' passports and IDs
- Wedding photos with family
- Communication history over time
- Joint lease, bank or insurance documents
- Divorce or death certificates for past marriages
- Police certificates and medical exam
Express Entry document checklist
- Language test results
- ECA for foreign education
- Reference letters for each job
- Pay stubs, T4s or tax records
- Proof of settlement funds (FSW/FST)
- Police certificates from each country
- Upfront medical exam
- Civil documents for family members
Citizenship document checklist
- PR card and COPR
- Passports covering the last five years
- Physical presence calculation printout
- Language proof (ages 18–54)
- Notices of assessment for tax years
- Photos meeting IRCC specifications
